BetaFPV Lite Radio 2 – The Best Beginner Radio EVER!

The BetaFPV Lite Radio 2 is the best thing to happen to newbies since sliced bread.

BetaFPV have been making solid, beginner friendly FPV products for years and their new budget radio is something the entire hobby has taken notice of. For reviewers, recommending the best products that also don’t break the bank is a never ending balancing act.

If you buy a BetaFPV Lite Radio 2, for your $40 investment you get a ridiculous amount of radio for your money.

Compatibility

You get a radio that can connect to pretty much any FRSKY 2.4ghz receiver. Previously, the cheapest radio worth buying that did this was the Frsky X9 Lite.  This was still $90 and out of the box is limited to buying either a European version or global FCC system. This can make binding your first quad a nightmare.

Portability

The Lite Radio 2 is easily the smallest form factor radio with proper gimbals. It’s powered using a removable 2s lipo battery, making long flying sessions a reality. You can use the USB plug on the bottom to connect up to your PC and play simulators like Liftoff or Velocidrone.

Functionality

This little guy even runs a basic version of Open TX, though you can only use it to calibrate the gimbals at this stage. Early tests by a few different pilots have shown favourable range, with around 600m seemingly being the max safe distance to fly. The best receivers will be the fabled XM+, or a Frsky SPI receiver on whoops and micros.

If you are just starting out in the hobby, or even if you’re a seasoned pilot looking for a travel radio, the BetaFPV lite radio 2 is a no brainer. Some people are even modding this to work with Crossfire…
